Ever wanted to own your own successful web design business? I did, ten years ago. Back then I was an impassioned young man with a burning desire to build websites, no matter what. What followed was the beginning and ever changing evolution online, from over-the-top flash sites to current day ‘state of the art’ CMS technology and the development of online software.
Welcome to my web design and development company; it’s for sale and primed to go the next step from a small business to something a little bigger, if you so choose.
Why am I selling this business? After ten years I’ve worked off my burning desire to build websites and to be honest, that flame is almost spent. I don’t think I’ve much more to offer it and it would be remiss of me to let this great business go backwards. It’s time for me to make a change.
That’s where you come into the picture. If you are already excited by what you’ve read so far then maybe, just maybe, you are the right person/people to take this business on and fulfill your dreams.
Let’s get into some detail. Even though we are a small business I’ve always been big on systems. It worked beautifully for me in my last business (retail) and I’ve carried that philosophy on with this one. As a result we have a very, very well organised structure, from the actual website development process right down to our documentation.
We have an established client base spanning a wide range of industries, in particular the medical sector (online training programs) which we are yet to fully exploit. We are fortunate in that our clients are loyal, longstanding and reliable with the majority having been with us for 5 years or more. We don’t carry any passengers in that our invoicing terms and conditions require 14 day payments which are rarely exceeded.
Our core product is our very own CMS (content management system) which we’ve built in .NET from the ground up. Nearly all our clients’ websites are running on this CMS, and we have regularly updated the features and functionality so it remains as cutting edge today as when it was first developed. However, by far the biggest benefit of this product is that it has not been marketed to its fullest potential. The reason for this is not so surprising – as a small business we have focused on the quality of the product and our service level rather than the marketing side.
As a result, this established business owns a proven first class product supported by solid clients, and is just waiting for the right company to launch it into an expansion stage across Australia and potentially, the rest of the world.
