Key findings for the December Quarter 2009

1. Market sentiment has surged again in the December Quarter after skyrocketing in  the previous quarter with the net sentiment being at its highest level since the survey began in December 2006.  This is vastly different from the lows recorded just nine months ago.

2. Business values remain low.  This is primarily due to a shift in the type of businesses on the market over the last 6 months. There are a significant number of micro businesses on the market at very low prices which is dragging down the overall average.

3.  Overall the number of businesses listed for sale remained steady,  although Medium and Mid Market business owners appear to be delaying entering the market despite the buoyant market sentiment.1.      Overall the number of businesses listed for sale remained steady,  although Medium and Mid Market business owners appear to be delaying entering the market despite the buoyant market sentiment.

4. Business brokers continue to report that overly restrictive bank lending criteria has prevented some quality businesses changing hands.  This is frustrating for both buyers and sellers.
