Quarterly data

From the BizExchange Asking Price Report

The first report is expected after the first full quarter of listings. It will cover median asking prices, price-to-profit multiples, listing volumes and time on market for liquor stores businesses, nationally and by state. A figure is published for a group only once it has enough listings to be reliable.

Buying a liquor store: common questions

What does the asking price usually include?

Plant, equipment, fit-out, goodwill and the lease assignment. Stock is usually extra, shown as "plus stock" at valuation on the day of settlement. Listings state what is included.

How is net profit different from EBITDA or owner's benefit?

Net profit is what the accounts show after all expenses. Owner's benefit adds back the owner's wage and personal expenses. EBITDA excludes interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation. Listings label which figure they quote, and a price to profit multiple should be read against that label.

Can I see the financials before I enquire?

Most sellers share detailed financials after you sign a confidentiality agreement. You can request an NDA from the listing page, and the seller replies directly.
