How BizExchange guides and reports are written, checked, updated and corrected.
What our guides are for
Our guides explain how buying, selling, valuing and financing a small business usually works in Australia, in plain English. They are general information. They do not consider anyone's circumstances and are not legal, tax or financial advice.
How guides are written and checked
- Statements about law, tax and regulation are checked against official sources, such as the ATO, the Fair Work Ombudsman, ASIC and business.gov.au, and each guide links to the guidance it relies on.
- We do not publish statistics we cannot source. Where a figure varies, such as prices, multiples or timeframes, we say so rather than quote a typical number.
- Guides are drafted with the help of AI writing tools. Every draft is then checked against the official sources it cites, and reviewed and approved by our editor, Conrad Harcourt, before it is published.
- Every guide shows the date it was last updated.

Independence
BizExchange is a marketplace, not a broker or adviser. Guides do not recommend particular brokers, lenders or advisers, and we do not publish paid or sponsored content in guides. If that ever changes, sponsored content will be clearly labelled.
Figures in listings and reports
Listing figures are supplied by sellers and brokers and are not verified by BizExchange unless a listing says so. Reports built from listing data describe asking prices, not sale prices, and explain their method and sample size.
Updates and corrections
We review guides when the rules they describe change. If you think something is wrong or out of date, tell us. We correct errors promptly and note significant corrections on the page with the date.
